Fair Housing

The Fair Housing program provides education to housing consumers about how to recognize the subtle ways housing discrimination happens, and how to report suspicious actions and policies.  We also investigate complaints and assist victims of housing discrimination. In addition, housing providers, lenders, and insurance companies are educated by program staff to understand their responsibilities under state and local laws, and the Fair Housing Act of 1968.

We seek to eliminate housing discrimination against all persons because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, families with children, sexual orientation, and other characteristics protected by state or local laws throughout Maryland. You can download a fact sheet that lists all Federal, state, and local protected classes here.

If you feel you are being discriminated against, and need assistance with a Fair Housing complaint, please fill out this form.
